The one thing that irritates me as much as what Obama would do to the Supreme Court is the toll on the military would be. Especially, as my oldest son joined the Army Reserves last month. As a 12 year Army veteran who served from '81-'93, so I got to see the Army from when it was just beginning to improve after Carter, through the great years under Reagan and HW Bush, then I left when I saw it falling apart under Clinton. Base closures and downsizing, and just knowing that we had someone like Clinton as a CINC. We weren't allowed to even get a top secret clearance if we had admitted to having experimented with marijuana or if you had had any associations with members of the communist or socialist parties or had been to any meetings of such people. Clinton came in and started making changes left and right, he made it ok to be gay, as long as you didn't tell anybody. So all of a sudden you started seeing soldiers wearing ascotts and walking like women, it was sick. We also started seeing women in Combat Arms units. But the biggest thing was the decline in moral. When you have no respect for your Commander in Chief, unit pride goes out the window, the army became bitter. Now, under "W" the military is the smartest and proudest I have ever seen. These kids have gotten to become brothers and know what it is like to care about others more than ones self. (Something all these lefties need to learn). Now America is possibly going to put a man in charge who has tried to cut off funding to them, wanted to pull them out and let all their brothers to have died in vain. They are proud because they have seen the happiness in the eyes of the children and mothers in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have given those people a chance at freedom, and the women a chance to get to live in a society where women have actual rights. The worthless media never focuses on these things, but as a returning veteran about the women and kids, they'll be happy to tell you.
If you want to know what wrecked our image in Europe and around the world, ask CNN International. I spent 5+ years stationed in West Germany and was there when the Wall came down. The people loved us for the most part, except maybe some of the college age punks (mostly anarchist), but even most of the college people loved us. The really old people who either fought in the war or were children during WWII, were the most friendly, I couldn't even buy a beer in towns away from military bases, as people were lining up to pay for rounds. I spent several days in Germany two years ago on my way to serve on a mission trip in Ghana and it was as if the world had been stood on it's head. The price of everything was through the roof (Euro) instead of Deutch Marks. And many more ethnic people- Turkish looking people, Islam is moving in big time, no one looked happy. During the 80's people were always happy and smiling and willing to help you or each other, that seemed to have disapeared. It was like walking in the bad side of Chicago at night. I walked every street in downtown Frankfurt in the 80's and never had any fear of being mugged. Even late at night people would smile and wave at each other, now they look away from each other and move quickly from one building to the next. Many more delinquents on the streets in groups. People said the crime rate had nearly tripled since the eighties. Back then the cops carried Uzzies and would not hesitate to use a billy club. Now they have fear of repercussions and lawsuits. They are now jeered at by the punks, which would have not happened in the 80's.
Socialist have been in charge there for a while now, and they have lost their autonomy to the EU. No national pride any more, as there used to be. I spent two weeks on vacation in Spain in 86, beautiful beaches and well policed streets. Socialism has wrecked that country too, along with the disapearance of national pride and a general lack of happiness. Prager should go to Europe and do some seminars. Anyway, I love my country, my military, and have great pride in what my forefathers have created and fought for through the centuries. I have two of my lines go back to the 1600's in this country, and some cherokee and all the rest of my lines but one arrived in the 1700's. Mostly all subsistance farmers from the NC Smoky Mountains or the foothills. They were all raised to be self sufficient and not take crap from no one. Even during the civil war, they served on both sides, most of that area felt they had no reason to be in that fight as most of their forefathers fought in the Revolutionary War. When they were forced to fight for the CSA, most of them deserted and went to Cumberland Gap and joined the Union Army. I have one of my GG grandfathers who served on both sides, and drew a Union Pension in his old age, he has the only GAR tombstone in the Turkey Creek Cemetary, near Asheville, NC. But anyway, we don't need to loose our sense of national pride, the lefties tried hard to take it away in the 60's and early 70's. We have been getting it back since the Reagan 80's. Now are we simply going to give up on ourselves now, and be seduced by "Change". I for one am proud of where our country is, and don't think it is that bad (just because the media says so??) Things are not that bad, there are jobs to be had, go look. If not, what is wrong with falling back on family, freinds, neighbors and our Churches. THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR!!!!! If you can't fall back on your family and Church family for assistance then what good are they, and you should move and find a new Church and community. Out in the country we help each other, we don't go to the government to help, we help each other and ourselves. I have a bumper sticker on my car that says, "ANNOY A LIBERAL: WORK HARD AND BE HAPPY", that basically says it all. It's not the conservatives who are always bitter, it's the liberals. I have seen that to be the case over and over again, but that only makes sense as that is the dictionary definition, Conservatives want things to stay the same. Liberals always want things to change. My pastor told me that this morning, I didn't know, but it makes perfect sense. I really didn't like the sound of wanting things to stay the same, but now that I think about it, if change = socialism, I take them staying the same, all day long. I really got to rambling on, please forgive.
Bye, Dwayne
